Speech therapy is a program used to help children who have trouble with speaking. Treatment is provided by a speech therapist, also known as a speech-language pathologist.
Speech therapy can help kids learn to speak more clearly. This helps them feel more confident and less frustrated about speaking to others. Kids who have language issues can benefit socially, emotionally and academically from speech therapy.
Speech therapy is especially beneficial when kids begin early in life. The earlier speech therapy is started the better. Children who start therapy before age 3 usually improve faster and do better than older children. Older children may make slower progress because they often have to learn how to change they way they are using speech or language.
We work closely with a speech therapist to provide assessments and therapy to children with speech delay.
